Here at Parissa, we care about the environment and we care about you! It is important to us that we are not adding to the current plastic pollution crisis and that anyone who chooses to use our products will not be causing any harm to the world or their well-being in the short or the long term!

Unfortunately, for too long, companies have been getting away with the use of plastics, animal testing, and harmful additives in their products and let’s be honest, it’s beyond time for a change! We believe that more companies should take responsibility for what they are putting out into the world, and we choose to lead by example. That’s why all (and we mean ALL) Parissa products are biodegradable, ecofriendly, made with only natural, ethically sourced ingredients and are never tested on animals. Take a look at the ingredients list on any of our products and you’ll find only pure and natural ingredients that are good for you and good for the future of our planet.

PLASTIC POLLUTION CRISIS - SAY NO TO PLASTIC

Since its invention in 1907, synthetic plastic resins have been wreaking havoc on the environmental wellbeing of our planet. These types of plastics, which we have become all too familiar with in the last century, are built to never succumb to the natural decomposition process, filling the world with literal mountains of garbage. Not only is it unsightly, but it also destroys natural ecosystems and poisons our wildlife. Our oceans are currently filled with a large array of plastic trash being eaten by fish, inhaled by turtles and getting into our bodies by way of microplastics.

Horrifyingly, Several million tons of debris end up in our oceans EVERY YEAR! In 2014, the first-ever oceanographic study examining the amount of plastic debris on the surface of the earth’s oceans found that at least 5.25 trillion individual plastics particles were floating on top of our oceans at that time.

In short, Plastic is poisoning our bodies, killing our wildlife, and overwhelming our planet. Thankfully, there are amazing biodegradable natural plastic alternatives!

WHAT MAKES PARISSA DIFFERENT

At Parissa we have always believed in using natural chemical-free ingredients rather than the harmful alternatives found in many wax products from other companies. Rather than synthetic petrochemical resins and oils, we use natural tree resins and oils derived from nuts and seeds. Instead of plastic or paraffin-based waxes, we use beeswax in our products. While the word “parfum” or “fragrance” appearing on an ingredients list may seem harmless, these products contain an undisclosed mixture of scent chemicals and fragrance dispersants such as diethyl phthalate. These types of fragrance mixes have been found to be connected with allergies, dermatitis, respiratory distress and can even have potentially negative effects on your reproductive health. At Parissa, we don’t use mysterious “fragrances”, our products contain natural essential oils adding to the effectiveness of our products, leaving you with smooth, soft and healthy skin.

Many companies use BHA (butylated hydroxyanisole) a chemical preservative capable of causing cancer, but In keeping with our code of ethics, we have chosen natural preservatives such as citrus extracts or vitamin E to keep your products fresh for longer, without putting your health at risk!

Oh, did we forget to mention that our containers and packaging are recyclable, while our epilation strips, spatulas, waxes and Wax Strips are all biodegradable? How silly of us.

While there are numerous tools available for your hair removal needs, not all options are created equal!

Many commercial wax companies add liquid plastics to their products to help with the appearance and stretch of their waxes, but Parissa is proud to be plastic-free! Disposable razors are made of nonbiodegradable plastics, adding to the world’s plastic crisis, along with all other synthetic hair removal tools such as plastic exfoliators. Hair removal creams are an environmentalist's nightmare, chocked full of harmful chemicals that are not only damaging to your skin but to the environment as well. Parissa Wax Strips are biodegradable, but many wax companies use synthetic plastics for their strips, which pile high in the landfills of the world for the foreseeable future.
