Parissa’s Ingrown Rescue Kit and Why You Need It!

Parissa’s Ingrown Rescue Kit and Why You Need It!

Ingrown hairs are a pain - literally and figuratively. They are uncomfortable, unsightly and downright annoying. If you find that you struggle with ingrown hairs, don’t worry - you’ve come to the right place!

What is an ingrown hair?

Hair is meant to grow straight up and out of the skin, but sometimes something terrible happens. Your hair gets stuck under the surface of the skin, twisting and growing back in on itself, reentering the skin and causing red, pimple-like bumps, or boil-like sores. Ingrown hairs are more than just a blemish, as they are often painful and itchy, sometimes becoming infected or leaving scars and discolouration on your skin. Don’t worry though, ingrown hairs are completely normal and there are steps you can take to prevent them and reduce their appearance!

What Causes Ingrown Hairs?

Ingrown hairs can happen after shaving, tweezing or waxing incorrectly. They can be a result of tight-fitting clothing, improper hygiene or a lack of exfoliation and hydration. Dead skin cells can clog the hair follicles preventing your new hairs from breaking through to the surface of your skin, or something as simple as curly hair under the skin curling back on itself, instead of heading towards the exit (this is the reason the bikini area is such a hot-spot for ingrown hair).

How to Prevent Ingrown hairs.

To start, let’s make sure that your hair removal technique of choice is being done correctly. If shaving is your modus operandi, be sure to use plenty of shaving cream and be careful to shave in the direction of your hair growth. For those of you waxing, follow the instructions for your wax closely to ensure proper procedures and aftercare.

Wearing loose-fitting clothing after hair removal can help to prevent ingrown hair, and don’t forget about the moisturizer!

Last but certainly not least - EXFOLIATE. Clearing away dead skin cells and increasing blood flow to the area is a great way to combat the development of those pesky ingrowns!

If your ingrown hair is infected we strongly recommend seeing a doctor. These methods are to help prevent ingrown hair and ease the appearance - this is not a treatment for infections.

Contents and Why We Chose Them

Parissa Ingrown Rescue Soap contains antibacterial, pharmaceutical-grade Tea Tree Oil which breaks down oils and debris on the surface of your skin. The lightweight lather rinses away impurities while opening pores, removing dead skins and preparing your skin for proper exfoliation. As powerful as our Ingrown Rescue Soap is, it may surprise you that it is gentle enough for everyday use!

The Exfoliating Konjac Sponge is a biodegradable, all-natural alternative to plastic sponges or microbeads (which are harmful to the environment). We chose konjac over chemical acids like glycol salicylic acid and finely ground walnut shells for 8x the exfoliation of a regular sponge! Using the Exfoliating Konjac Sponge once or twice a week will increase skin cell turnover and improve cell regeneration so your hair can grow easily. The Exfoliating Konjac Sponge can be used dry, or wet for a softer exfoliation.

The perfect blend of essential oils, Parissa Ultra Soothe Oil is sure to soothe, moisturize, and soften your skin. Containing chamomile to calm, peppermint to cool, eucalyptus to cleanse and seaberry to repair, Ultra Soothe Oil stimulates cell regeneration which allows hair to penetrate your skin easily. Prevent scaly dry skin by utilizing the benefits of Ultra Soothe Oil daily!

There is no overnight solution to ingrown hairs, however, adhering to a consistent routine with our three-step Ingrown Rescue Kit will leave you with clearer, calmer skin and fewer ingrown hairs in no time!
