Must-Know Answers to Your Top Sugar Waxing Questions

Must-Know Answers to Your Top Sugar Waxing Questions

We love a natural wax that delivers weeks of fabulously smooth skin! Non-toxic, washable, and infused with calming chamomile, Parissa Sugar Wax is a favourite among at-home waxers.

We’re answering some of your most-asked questions about our Sugar Wax products. The gentlest of all our waxes, it’s perfect for sensitive skin. From washable strips to application tips, your at-home waxing routine is about to get much sweeter!

Q: Can I use Sugar Wax on my face?

A: Yes! All Parissa products are 100% natural and can be used anywhere on your face and body. However, Sugar Wax is ideal for fine to medium hair types. It works best on larger areas such as legs, arms, back and chest.

For a bikini or underarm wax, we would recommend a Hot or Hard Wax (hello, Parissa Brazilian & Underarm Kit!), which will grab onto hair that is coarse and deeply rooted.

Q: The Sugar Wax did not remove any hair. What am I doing wrong?

A: To achieve great results with Sugar Wax, you’ll need to follow a short prep routine.

Step One:

You’ll need to gently cleanse the area of skin you plan on waxing. Essentially, you want to make sure there is no sweat, oil, lotions, or debris left on your skin.

Step Two:

Apply a paper-thin layer – too much wax will become gummy and not grab onto hair. If your skin is sweaty, apply baby powder or cornstarch before you begin. Repeat as needed.

Expert Waxing Tip:

Ensure hair is long enough to wax (about the size of a grain of rice) and trim longer hairs.

Q: My skin is red and bumpy after waxing! Is this normal?

A: This is normal! When hair is removed at the root, skin may turn pink and small dots may appear. This should go away within 24 hours. An aftercare oil will help potential irritation.

Even though Parissa is 100% natural, make sure to always do a skin allergen test prior to waxing and be sure to keep the skin clean afterwards. Sometimes a histamine reaction may occur, resulting in hive-like, itchy bumps. If you are prone to a reaction, consider taking an antihistamine prior to waxing.

Q: I am pregnant/breastfeeding. Can I use your products?

A: Absolutely, yes! For anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding, we recommend our Organic Sugar Wax. This is our gentlest formula. It contains only certified organic cane sugar, water, and lemon extract. Choose our Roll-On Sugar Wax or our classic Legs & Body Sugar Wax kit.

Q: Why don’t any of the Sugar Waxes come off with oil?

A: Sugar Wax is washable with water. In fact, our epilation strips are completely washable when you use them with this. kit. On the other hand, you’ll need oil to remove resin-based waxes that are not water-soluble!

Love a hydrating oil? For an elevated at-home waxing experience, you can always add Parissa Ultra Soothe to your order! Both purifying and soothing, it removes any leftover residue and calms skin post-waxing.

Skin-friendly and washable, Sugar Wax is go-to for those with sensitive skin – or for anyone pregnant or breastfeeding. Its natural ingredients and gentle yet effective formula make it a winning at-home waxing product. Weeks of smooth skin and non-toxic ingredients? Yes, please!
