How do I make my routine more eco-friendly?

How do I make my routine more eco-friendly?

Eco-beauty is EVERYWHERE! This positive trend is part of our DNA at Parissa and we support it wholeheartedly. If you're like us, you're also greening your beauty routine by choosing more ethical products and sustainable packaging. We're here to tell you that one of the easiest changes to make is with your hair removal routine! Who said getting smooth skin had to take a toll on the environment?

Everything we do is with care, aiming for the lowest impact on the earth’s resources. Parissa products are made with ingredients, packaging and components that are sustainable and ethically sourced. At Parissa, we pride ourselves on using all-natural, non-toxic ingredients: no parabens, no preservatives and no chemicals, only natural, food-grade ingredients. We take our waste and emissions seriously. To find out more about how we're doing our part, visit our values page.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the case with many other brands or hair removal methods that contain harsh chemicals that are harmful to your health and the environment. Ditch those disposable razors and aerosol foams that will sit in a landfill for eternity.

Wondering how to wax sustainably? Here are some tips on how to cut down on waste while waxing with Parissa products:

Consider Sugar Wax

Parissa Sugar Waxes are simply made with sugar, chamomile, water, and citric acid.  Sugar waxes are washable, so you can wash the epilation strips included with the wax and reuse them! We even offer an organic, vegan option for our super eco-minded babes.

Reuse Your Wax Strips

Wax strips do not have to be single-use! Each strip can be used multiple times - we recommend reusing them until the wax no longer adheres to the hair. The clear backing or “substrate” of the Parissa Wax Strips is not plastic, but a coated cellulose film, known as Cellophane. Unlike plastic film which is made from oil, cellulose films are made from natural, renewable sources such as wood, cotton or hemp.

Recycle All Materials

Simply recycle the boxes where you normally recycle paper and clean out the jar to ensure it will be recycled. To clean our containers, we recommend heating them to transfer any remaining wax into a new container or emptying any excess in your compost. Make sure your container is clean before placing it with your recyclables – our sugar waxes will clean with water and our salon-style waxes will clean with oil.
