Precautions & Tips

General waxing tips Parissa Washable waxes (Sugar Waxes)

Warnings: Always Follow Parissa's Waxing Instructions.

  • Before you start, do a patch test.

When using new beauty products always test for allergies. How? Apply a small amount of wax to your skin, wait 24 hours. If no redness or irritation occurs it’s OK to go ahead and use the product.

  • Don’t wax over the same area more than once during a single waxing session.
  • Wash your skin with soap and water, or an oil-free toner, dry well.
  • Previously shaved hair can be stubbly and resistant. Wait for at least two weeks hair growth (½ cm or ¼”) before waxing.
  • Avoid waxing before or after strenuous exercise.
  • Clean any excess wax remaining on the skin with warm water and soap.

Parissa Washable waxes (Sugar Based) can be clean away easily with warm water and soap.

  • Some redness after waxing is normal.

Most people experience some level of temporary pinkness or redness to the skin after waxing. Depending on the area waxed and the hair type this should disappear in 20 minutes to a few hours. If irritation and redness persists, discontinue use. The skin may be more sensitive after the first waxing session, as the hairs are more deeply rooted. However this can improve with each waxing session as the hair grows back sparser, finer and weaker each time

FAQs
  • What’s the sugar wax made of? Our sugar waxes, like all our products, are all-natural. They’re simply made from sugar, water, and citrus extract. That’s it!
  • What’s the difference between Sugar Wax and sugaring? Sugar wax is generally applied with a wooden spatula and the wax is removed with a fabric strip, whereas the type of paste that is used for sugaring is a hard, thick, sticky ball of wax that you mold and shape in your hands, apply to your skin, and then zip off. To learn more about the differences between sugaring and Sugar Wax, check out our blog.
  • What’s the difference between organic sugar wax and sugar wax? Both of our sugar waxes are equally effective and made with nearly identical ingredients. The only difference is that the Organic Sugar Wax is made with USDA Certified unprocessed sugar, while the Body Sugar Wax is made with processed sugar.
  • How do I heat the wax? You can heat the wax either in the microwave for 20 seconds or with a Parissa Wax Warmer.
  • The sugar wax isn’t removing hair. What am I doing wrong? A couple of things could be happening if the wax isn’t removing your hair:
    • You’re not applying the wax in the same direction as hair growth: This is the best way to adhere the wax to the hair for removal. Remember to remove the strip in the opposite direction of hair growth.
    • Your hair isn’t long enough: Previously shaved hair can be stubbly and resistant. Wait for at least two weeks hair growth (½ cm or ¼”) before waxing.
    • You’re not applying a paper-thin layer: This is the most effective way to remove the hair.
    • Your hair is extremely, extremely coarse: Our Sugar Waxes work for all hair types except for extremely coarse hair. If your hair is very thick, check out our Warm Wax and Hot/Hard wax. Those will really do the trick!
  • The wax doesn’t stick to the strip and won’t come off my skin. What am I doing wrong? Most likely, you’re not removing the strip fast enough. The quicker the strip is removed, the better the results. Make sure to remove the strip parallel to the skin and not directly upward, all while holding the skin taut.
  • How do I clean up wax residue leftover by the Sugar Wax? Our sugar wax is water-soluble, so you can clean it easily with warm water.
  • Can I reuse the epilation strips? Yes! Simply wash them in the sink under warm water and hang them or lay them down to dry.
