5 Steps to Your Best Eyebrow Shape

May 08, 2019

From Los Angeles to Montreal, our team of waxing experts have been visiting Health and Beauty events and Women’s Shows to teach people how to get perfect brows. Come visit us at these upcoming fall events:

We’ve simplified brow waxing into 5 easy steps to empower you to shape your own brows at home. It’s now easier than ever to find your natural brow shape and maintain that shape to allow your brows to frame your beautiful face.

Step 1. Brush Brows Upward

Use a brow brush, mascara wand, toothbrush or your fingers to brush your brow hairs upwards. Brushing maintains your natural shape and reveals your natural arch.

Regular brushing of the brows will train your hair to grow into a natural arch that puts the focus on your eyes. Brushing your brows up instantly creates a more dramatic look and brightens the eyes.

Step 2. Trim Unruly Hairs with Scissors (if required)

Once you’ve brushed your brows and revealed your natural brow shape, you may notice a few longer or unruly hairs that require trimming.

Use a small pair of scissors to trim these hairs. Trimmed brows can take away some volume and give a more structured appearance to your brows. Just these first two steps can have a substantial impact on the appearance of your brows.

Step 3. Determine the Start, Arch and End of Brow

Use this image as a guide to determine the start, arch and end of your brow line. The start of your brow should line up with the far side of your nose (1). The highest point, the arch, should be inline with the centre of your eye (2) and the end of your brow should taper at the point that would meet an imaginary line drawn from the edge of your nose, past the outer edge of your eye (3).

This general guide will help you identify the areas outside of your natural shape for hair removal. Once you have brushed your brows and determined the natural shape and arch, the “clean up” areas will become obvious.

At Parissa we’re all about natural beauty, so try to keep as much of your natural shape as possible and keep your brows full instead of removing too much hair. Focus your attention on only removing the hairs below and between the brows while keeping your natural shape instead of replicating someone else’s brows. The best shape for your face is the natural shape of your brow.

Step 4. Wax Your Eyebrows for Definition

If you are new to at-home waxing or are looking for a quick, no mess solution to cleaning up your brows we recommend Parissa Brow Shaper Wax Strips. Use them between the brows and under darkest part of brow to reveal yournatural shape.

Want a warm wax that will help you define your arch? Try the Parissa Precision Waxing Pen for easy application! Or if you prefer a salon style wax, the Parissa Hot Wax is an excellent choice for coarser eyebrow hair. Once you have determined the natural shape of your brow, simply apply the wax to the areas you want to clean up, hold the skin tight and zip off.

Step 5. Fill Things In (if required)

If you have some sparse spots or  are looking to create a fuller brow, using a brow pencil in a shade that matches your natural hair color is the best option. When filling in brows, do so in small hair-like strokes instead of colouring in the brows. Smaller strokes will give you a more natural, fuller look.

Remember, your eyebrows are sisters, not twins.

Don’t worry about making your brows have identical shapes. Rather, put your focus on working with the existing natural shape and only removing hair outside of that area. One brow is usually more dominant than the other, trying to match them is a futile.
