Does the thought of how painful waxing can be turn you off? If you are a waxing virgin, you are probably even more scared about it. If you’re looking to wear those cute summer dresses and bikinis when the summer season hits, it’s time to wax. We are here to tell you that you don’t need the salon. You’ve got this!
We have got 6 tips that will make bikini waxing a breeze.
You aren’t in a competition. So, no, you don’t need to finish waxing at high speed. Take your time and tackle one small area at a time. It gives you better control over the waxing strip and allows you to stretch the skin properly. Consider one small section as the size of two postage stamps.
If your hair is too long, you will experience more pain. If your hair is about 1cm it will be less painful. So trim things up before you get started.
Take Advil or another anti-inflammatory at least 30 minutes before you do bikini waxing. It will help reduce the discomfort.
If you are waxing on your own, use one hand to hold the skin taut and another hand to apply the wax. Press it down gently and stretch the skin again with one hand before you pull the strip in the opposite direction of hair growth.
That’s why our first tip mentions working in small areas because you have better control over the process. If you are getting a bikini wax done at a salon, ask the person to work in small sections as well. You can assist them in stretching the waxing region.
During your period and in the days leading up to it your skin may be more sensitive and you may experience more irritation when waxing. If you already experience pain and discomfort during Aunt Flo's visit then hold off on the hair removal until you are back to feeling your best.
After you wax one area, apply azulene oil to your skin. This soothing oil will calm your skin and keep ingrown hairs at bay. Go ahead and apply it a couple of times a day for a few days if you experience redness or irritation after waxing, or even shaving or plucking other body areas.
Now go enjoy that smooth skin!
