For some time now, we've been trying to get a sense of people's preference in the material of their spatulas they use for waxing. Presently, Parissa uses wood spatulas in all it's products. We've had some requests from customers to include plastic spatulas like our professional spatula...others state that they love the wood spatulas. What's your preference?
I use the wood spatulas for my legs and underarms and the plastic precision spatula for facial hair.
If you are using a sugar-based wax (like chamomile body sugar, soft gel or Persian cold wax) the spatulas are very simple to clean by rinsing them under warm water.
However, if you are using a resin based wax (like warm or hot wax) you're best to scrape the spatula on the side of the jar, thoroughly, to remove any excess wax then setting the spatula on top of the jar and storing it in a cool dry place. I have found this to work fine.
The resin based waxes are oil-soluble - meaning they dissolve with oil, not water. For this reason, I generally do prefer to use one of our professional plastic spatulas when working with them, because I can just leave the spatula in a narrow jar of vegetable oil overnight then simply wipe it clean in the morning.
I don't suggest this method for the wooden ones.

Should I attempt to clean the wooden spatula or just throw the used one away, after each application?
I have your professional spatula and I love it.
To be honest I don't know which is better for the planet though. It's hard to tell these days. Does one impact moreso than the other?
I know you guys are into the whole environment thing, if you did plastic would you make them from like, old water bottles or something?
I prefer using wood ones.
Years ago I read an article about using wooden cutting boards instead of plastic ones, because they are more sterile, or at least more sterilizable.
That sticks in my head - I must admit.
I use your body sugar because it's so honest and pure in terms of ingredients, and I suppose the wooden sticks are part of that for me.
I alway prefer wood ones.
Years ago, I read an article that said it was better to use wooden cutting boards rather than plastic ones, because it's more sterile. So for that reason, I suppose, as well as the fact that somehow the wood just feels more natural to me.
I use your body sugar because it's so basic and honest in terms of ingredients - I guess to me the wood spatulas fit with that.
So in my case, it's more about how it makes me feel.

I just use the wooden popsicle sticks in the box and once they have finished, I buy more from a store: walmart, art store, dollar store etc. It is more hygienic. Don't waste time cleaning the sticks.
