I have used wax strips and warm waxes on my legs quite a few times.
I once tried a brazilian hard wax, not from Parissa, it was a different brand name. I would say it was about a week later when I started noticing red bumps from in-grown hairs that were pretty bad. I had used a soothing oil product right after waxing, but there was no direction to continue using daily and I had been using an exfoliating glove everyday during bathing. I enjoyed the longer lasting smoothness, and most of the regrowth was finer; however, I am afraid to go back to brazilian waxing now that this has happened. Is this something that happens to some people? Do you think my technique was incorrect? How can I ensure that this doesn't happen again if I try it once more?
It does sound to me as though some of your hairs were broken, rather than pulled all the way out - when that happens, the hair shaft breaks right at or below the skin surface, which could explain why you saw so many irritated ingrown hairs within a week. Technique is especially important in this case, and it can take a bit of practice to get it just right.
Here's a few options:
- Some people find the waxes that you use with fabric strips to be easier than trying to grib the stripless wax (particularly in areas that are *a-hem, harder to see). If you try using Warm Wax for your Brazilian, you may find that you can get better leverage when pulling the strip off, which means better speed and accuracy along with fewer broken hairs. *note: be sure to dust a layer of baby powder on your skin first, before applying the wax, to ease the "ouch" quite a bit.
- After waxing, be sure to wear loose fitting clothes and prevent any friction.
- If you are going to use a hard wax again, I sincerely do suggest our Hot Wax - it's one of the best hard waxes I've used in 18 yrs as a pro.
- Read our FAQ section about Brazilian Techniques, to make sure you've got yours right.

Thank you for your help and suggestions. I do think using material strips would be really helpful. Most brazilian kits do not come with strips but I think those with the baby powder would help alot. I found, the pain made it difficult to stick to a good technique.
