When we refer to the 2 week rule, we're talking about giving your hair time to grow long enough for the wax to grab it. However, because some folks hair grows faster, and some slower here's a simple way to check if yours is long enough for waxing: 1. pinch one hair between your thumb and finger 2. pull up gently - if it lifts the skin a little, then it's long enough to wax. Generally speaking, about a 1/4 of an inch will do.
Things to keep in mind:
- longer hair doesn't hurt more to wax - removing hair from the root is the same regardless of the length of the hair
- when working around intimate areas for the first time you may want to trim back hair that is quite long, in order to give you better control and make it easier to see what you are doing.
- when transitioning from shaving to waxing, your hair may be a little more resistant the first couple times you wax, so letting it grow long enough is important
